APOEL
are one of the most important football clubs in Cyprus, founded on
8th November 1926 by a group of people who loved football and had
the desire to be part of Cypriot Sporting Life.

The
club has lived many moments of glory, is one of the most highly
decorated teams of Cyprus. It has a record of 20 Championship titles,
19 Cyprus Cups and 11 Super Cups. APOEL is also the football club
in Cyprus with the most significant participation to European
official events.

The
club colours of APOEL are blue and yellow. The Blue part of the
shirt symbolises Greece and the yellow aspect symbolises Cyprus. The
logo is a blue and yellow shield with the name of the club written
diagonally in blue. After the club won their 20th championship
(season 2008-09) two stars were added over the logo to symbolise the
20 championships. 
APOEL
Fans
APOEL
is one of the most popular teams in Cyprus. APOEL fans are regarded
as right-wing in their majority but like at many clubs there are no
strong ties between the organised fans and any political party.
Instead fans regard APOEL as its political tool and main body of
association.

Main
supporter groups include the Pirates. Most ultras of APOEL wear
orange jackets and or T-shirts. The average league game attendance
for the last 5 seasons is 8,218. The number of season tickets for
the 2007-08 season was 5,442. The club holds the record for home
attendances in the Cypriot league and also record of the highest
attendance for European Competition game in Cyprus with 21,657
tickets for a the match against Chelsea FC for the 2009-10 Champions
League group stage. The match was held on September 30, 2009 at GSP
Stadium of Nicosia.
